Cambridge Guide to the Weather

Cambridge Guide to the Weather (R. Reynolds, 2000, 192 pp., $14.95, paperbound, Cambridge University Press, ISBN 0-521-77489-6). This book summarizes what is known about a broad spectrum of topics in meteorology and is well illustrated with maps, imagery, pictures, and diagrams. Included topics are atmospheric structure, observations, synoptic analysis, general circulation, forecasting technology, cloud physics, hazardous weather (and other weather phenomena), climatology of 28 cities worldwide, as well as popular topics such as global warming, the ozone hole, and El Nino. The book is aimed at a reader with a grasp of basic science and a curiosity about weather phenomena, their explanations, and means to predict them.
